Merrivale Snow - Fine Art Print
A very cold February morning, new snow and winter sunshine were the recipe for a classic Dartmoor archaeology scene!
I managed to reach the ancient stone row at Merivale before the snow was disturbed and waited for the sky to present a blue “frame” to the top of the image.
Adopting my own unusual style of photography – lying on the floor with my chin in the snow, I captured exactly what I had previsualised with a clear view of all the stones, the optimum background and a lovely little texture in the snow framing the bottom left of the image.
If you look at the far left horizon, you can see some threatening clouds moving in from Cornwall. They brought a blizzard half an hour later and had me reaching for the compass to scurry back to the car in 10m of visibility!
